Diets for Athletes

There are many articles written about the diets of athletes, but the one appearing on March 23 (''Role of Nutrition in Athletics: Facts and Fads'') surpassed all that I have read on the subject in nonprofessional publications.

As a registered dietitian, I was gratified to see that Marian Burros did not overlook the fact that it is registered dietitians to whom athletic teams are turning for sound dietary advice. Many turn to others, but the advice is far from sound.
